This election is so important. Here's what you need to know about voting in Michigan.

This is a critical election, and the best person to get your friends and family to vote is you! People we already know are the most effective voter turnout messengers. Please ask others to join you in pledging to vote here.

Important Steps
1) Register to Vote
October 19 is the last day to register online for the November general election.

If you're not registered,
You may also register in-person through Election Day with your local clerk with proof of residency. More info on that here.
2) Get a Ballot to Vote By Mail
You have the right to vote by mail (as an absent voter) in every election. Voting by mail is easy, convenient, and secure, and enables you to stay home and safe during COVID-19 while still making your voice heard.
Michigan's Secretary of State mailed Absent Voter Ballot Applications to every registered Michigan voter. Ballots will be mailed out starting 40 days before the election (September 24). Have you filled out and returned your application to your city or township clerk? If not, do it now! The deadline to return the completed application is 5 PM the Friday before the election, but don't wait until the last minute!

APPLY FOR ABSENT VOTER BALLOT ONLINE
You can mail in your absentee ballot or drop it off at your local clerk's office (or drop box if available). Ballots must be received by the clerk's office by 8 p.m. on election day. Find your clerk's office here.

4) Voting in Person? Make a Plan!
If you're voting in person, what time will you vote? Before work? Your lunch hour? Make a plan and determine how you will get to the polls.
By law, every Michigan voter must present picture identification at the polls - bring a valid Photo ID. Get more information about ID requirements here.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Remember - you cannot be turned away if you are in line before the polling place closes.
